The Gift of Presence Over Presents
As Christmas draws closer, the rush to find the perfect gifts can often overshadow what truly matters. December 19th is the perfect moment to pause and reflect: are we giving the most important gift of all—our presence?
Amidst the hustle and bustle, it’s easy to forget that the greatest gift you can offer your loved ones is yourself: your time, your attention, and your love. Jesus modeled this perfectly. He didn’t just give blessings from afar; He came to us, living among us, walking beside us.
God’s Presence: The Greatest Gift
The birth of Christ reminds us of Emmanuel, "God with us." In Matthew 1:23, it says:
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
God didn’t send a distant savior. He came near. His presence is a reminder that love is most powerful when it’s shared, not stored.
This Christmas, Choose to Be Present
-
Be Fully There
Put down the phone, turn off distractions, and give your loved ones your undivided attention. -
Listen and Love
Sometimes, the best gift is simply being a listening ear or a comforting presence. -
Focus on What Matters
The best memories aren’t wrapped in paper; they’re made around the dinner table, in laughter-filled rooms, and quiet moments together.
As we celebrate this season of giving, let’s remember that the greatest gifts aren’t found in stores but in the love and time we share with one another. Just as God chose to come near, let’s draw near to those we love and cherish.
